Summary:
On the streets of Verona a fight breaks out between the Capulet and Montague families. Prince Escalus promises death for any individual who starts a fight in the future. Romeo explains that he is in love with Rosaline, a woman who does not return the same feelings. Benvolio tells him to forget this woman and find a more beautiful woman, but Romeo insists on Rosaline.
Meanwhile, Paris seeks Juliet’s hand in marriage. Her father is happy, but asks Paris to wait two years, since Juliet is not fourteen yet. Capulet sends a servant with a list of people to invite to a party. He invites Paris to the party hoping that Paris will win Juliet’s heart. Romeo, Benvolio, and Mercutio decide to attend the party at the Capulets' house. Romeo is entranced by Juliet's beauty and kisses her. Romeo and Juliet fall in love and agree to be married by Friar Lawrence in secret. Benvolio and Mercutio encounter Tybalt who challenges Romeo to a duel. Tybalt stabs Mercutio and Mercutio dies. Romeo kills Tybalt and is banished by the Prince. Juliet is told to marry Paris and asks Friar Lawrence for advice. The night before her wedding, Juliet drinks a potion to make her appear dead so she can be with Romeo. Romeo doesn't get the message that she is not actually dead and decides to kill himself. Romeo enters the tomb where Juliet is. He drinks the poison and dies by her side. Friar Lawrence realizes that Romeo has killed himself at the same time that Juliet wakes up. Juliet sees Romeo dead and then stabs herself with a dagger, killing herself. The Capulets and Montagues enter the tomb finding their children both dead and decide to end their feud.
